Ocean Bound Plastic (OBP) refers to marine recycled materials or plastic waste collected from the ocean and reprocessed into plastic pellets. The goal is to prevent land-based plastic waste from entering the ocean. OBP is defined as plastic waste discarded within 50 kilometers of the coastline, which, due to rain, wind, tides, rivers, or floods, is transported into the ocean. Through physical or chemical recycling, it is transformed into highly valuable industrial raw materials, promoting marine conservation and circular resource utilization.
Yi Zeng’s OBP Nylon Pellet is reprocessed into pellets that can be directly used for injection molding or extrusion. By modifying its properties, the material’s strength, rigidity, toughness, heat resistance, and fire resistance can be enhanced. In addition to its original recycled color, color pigments can be added to achieve different shades.
Characteristics of Nylon
A crystalline polymer with a keratin-like texture, ranging from milky white to slightly yellow, and from transparent to opaque.
Easily colored, with excellent toughness, wear resistance, and self-lubrication.
Low rigidity, good low-temperature resistance, and bacterial resistance.
Slow-burning, extinguishes slowly when removed from a flame, with dripping and bubbling during combustion.
For PA6 nylon:
Maximum operating temperature: 180°C.
With impact modifiers, temperature resistance decreases to 160°C.
With 15%-50% glass fiber reinforcement, temperature resistance increases to 200°C.
Inorganic fillers can enhance its heat deflection temperature.
Excellent processability, can be welded or bonded.
Disadvantages of Nylon
High water absorption, leading to poor dimensional stability.
Electrical performance is affected, such as a decrease in dielectric breakdown voltage.
